5 Questions for: Jesper Lindgren

(WH) Hello Jesper, Please introduce yourself

(JL) I’m 35 years old. Born and raised in Gothenburg. I work part time as a social worker at a homeless shelter and part time freelance.

(WH) What part of your practice would you say is the most complicated to do?

(JL) To finish and wrap things up. It’s cliché, but it’s what I struggle with the most.

(WH) Where did your fascination for architecture begin?

(JL) Not really sure, but I grew up skateboarding and a big part of that is finding new, preferably untouched, spots - which I became very addicted to at a young age. It’s about utilizing ready made objects and often times looking at places in a different light.

I’m not sure if the fascination is just architecture. I think it’s more about places, angles and how things grow with time. I have always found the combination of decay and patina with demography and geography very interesting. Certain neighborhoods have their own energy and patterns and trying to understand what and why that is is compelling to me.

(WH) You have a lot of scenery from England, why is that? And also, what is the best football team in your opinion?

(JL) Because UK have all of that. But in masses. Almost always aesthetically appealing, in one way or another.

The setting you get a lower division football arena in UK is always beautiful. It’s still about the love. I found a lot clubs and stadiums interesting for different reasons. But extra I’m weak for Crystal Palace FC. Selhurst Park is the 11th wonder.

(WH) I also know you like to golf, who is better you or Klas (Barbrosson)?

(JL) I stand no chance to him. Lefties always have more interesting swings as well. I watched him make his second hole-in-one a month ago. We had champagne that night.
